European Automakers Volumes Could Fall 2% in Europe This Year -- Market Talk

1028 GMT - European automakers could have volumes fall 2% in Europe this year amid more difficult consumer conditions and continued high automotive prices, Citi analysts write. Chinese brands will likely increase European market share toward 10% this year, while European brands will keep trying to sell high-priced, low-margin EVs. Citi reduces Stellantis's 2026 EBIT margin forecasts to 2.5% from 3.1%. It expects Stellantis's European 2026 sales volumes at 2.48 million, leaving global sales volumes flat at 5.6 million. Citi lowers its Volkswagen 2026 EBIT margin forecast to 4.9%, leaving EBIT at 16.1 billion euros. Full-year unit sales are forecast roughly flat at 9 million units. Renault 2026 European sales volumes are anticipated to be 2.63 million units, leaving global volumes roughly flat, with an EBIT margin of 5.4%. (dominic.chopping@wsj.com)
