Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP) in the fourth quarter of 2025 expanded by 5.7% on year, reflecting broad growth across most of the economy, the nation's Department of Statistics (DoS) reported on Friday.
The fourth-quarter GDP estimate follows a 5.2% on year increase in the third quarter, added the department.
"Economic growth was supported by the expansion across all sectors, mainly services, manufacturing, construction and agriculture," said the DoS.
The nation's services sector expanded by 5.4% in the fourth quarter on year,
while manufacturing segment grew by 6% in the same time frame, said officials.
The agriculture sector increased by 5.1% in the fourth quarter on year, while the mining and quarrying industry grew by 1.1%.
A standout was the construction sector, gaining by 11.9% on year in the fourth period. "The expansion was supported by the stronger performance mainly in non-residential buildings and specialized construction activities," explained the DoS.
For the full year 2025, Malaysia's GDP expanded by 4.9% on year, a bit below the 5.1% growth recorded in 2024.
Malaysia's GDP is expected to expand by 4.3% in 2026, according to a forecast made by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in mid-December.
