Equinor's Empire Wind Granted Injunction to Resume Construction

MT Newswires Live01-16

Equinor (EQNR) said Thursday that the US District Court for the District of Columbia has granted its Empire Wind project a preliminary injunction, allowing construction to resume and temporarily blocking the Interior Department's Dec. 22, 2025 suspension.

The wind project, off the coasts of New York and New Jersey, is more than 60% complete and is designed to supply electricity to about 500,000 New York homes and boost grid reliability under a contract with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, the company said.

Equinor said it will prioritize safely resuming construction, continue its legal challenge, and work with the US government to ensure the project is executed responsibly, it added.

Equinor shares fell 0.6% in recent trading.
