Hong Kong's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 3.8% during the October to December 2025 period, unchanged from September to November, according to data released Tuesday by the city's Census and Statistics Department.
The underemployment rate increased from 1.6% to 1.7% over the same period.
Total employment declined to 3,667,000 in October to December from 3,669,900 in the prior three months.
The number of unemployed persons, not seasonally adjusted, fell to 138,200 from 144,400 in September to November.
The number of underemployed persons stood at 64,800, increasing from 60,900 in the preceding period.
Looking ahead, Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun said the continued growth of the Hong Kong economy and improvement in local consumption sentiment should help stabilize the labor market, though some sectors may remain under pressure amid ongoing business challenges.
