DAVOS: The Global Consumer Remains Resilient, Coca-Cola CEO Says -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-20

1500 GMT - There's pretty strong resilience in global consumer markets, Coca-Cola Chief Executive James Quincey tells CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The global economy is still doing pretty well, and the U.S. consumer continues to be robust, he says. "We're positive on the consumer. It's not the best of times, but for sure it's not the worst of times." Quincey says the business is relatively immune to tariffs, but some agricultural products have been more expensive. At the same time, inflation is moderating, which is helping. GLP-1 weight-loss drugs have created a shift, with consumers snacking less, and drinking a lot less alcohol and sugar drinks, he says. "On the reverse side you see more coffee, more diet, more protein drinks, more sports drinks." (dominic.chopping@wsj.com)
