DAVOS: Fast Charging Will Be Game-Changer for EV Industry, BYD's Stella Li Says -- Market Talk

0833 GMT - Bringing electric-vehicle-battery charging speeds closer to that of gas refueling will be a game-changer for the EV industry, BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li says. Speaking during a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Li says new BYD flash-charging technology improves charging efficiency by 30 to 40 times. "I live in the U.S., people like to drive long distances. But then if every 500, 400, 300 miles you need to stop for one hour, it's impossible." With new flash charging, 500 miles of range from a two-to-five minute charge is possible, Li says. "This will be the key game-changer in the next five to 10 years." (dominic.chopping@wsj.com)
