Dave & Buster's Seen Positioned for Comp Sales Growth in 1Q -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-17

1313 ET - Dave & Buster's may be positioned to see same-store sales growth in the first quarter, Benchmark analysts Mike Hickey and Todd Brooks write, upgrading the stock to buy. "We see a credible setup for positive same-store sales in 1Q, which would represent the first SSS inflection in roughly 13 quarters," they write. The analysts note the company improving its food and beverage execution under a new leadership team, and see incremental traffic gains from the expansion of the company's Half Price Games promotion that began on Jan. 4. "The Half Price Games program directly addresses the three most common barriers to visitation: not being top of mind, questions around value, and lack of a new reason to visit," they write. Shares are up 1%. (elias.schisgall@wsj.com)
