DAVOS: China's IP Exports Are Welcome, Standard Chartered CEO Says -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-20

0958 GMT - China has recently become a very large exporter of intellectual property, particularly in areas such as electric battery technology, Standard Chartered Chief Executive Bill Winters tells CNBC in an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. This is a welcome development which contrasts with just exporting final products to Europe or elsewhere, he says. Tension between Europe and China will continue, however, due to the latter's strong export position, Winters adds. Markets are closely watching how global tensions may affect economics, as well as trade and money flows, he says, pointing out that countries have signed lots of new free trade agreements in recent times, including the European Union's deal with Mercosur.
