U.K. Inflation Path to BOE's 2% Target is Uneven -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-21

0842 GMT - U.K. inflation ticked higher in December, indicating that the path toward the Bank of England's 2% target is bumpy, Quilter's Lindsay James says in a note. Annual headline inflation increased to 3.4% in December from 3.2% in November, data showed. Annual core inflation was unchanged at 3.2%. "The broader direction of travel remains encouraging over the medium term, even if progress back to the Bank of England's 2% target continues to be uneven," James says. (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
