Market Chatter: Qantas Airways to Limit Bronze-Tier Frequent Flyer Program Members From Booking Emirates First-Class Reward Seats

MT Newswires Live01-22 11:26

Qantas Airways (ASX:QAN) will no longer allow children under the age of nine as well as bronze-tier members of its frequent flyer program to book first-class reward seats on its partner airline, Emirates, the Australian Financial Review reported on Thursday.

Economy and business class flyers will face a between 7% and 11% hike, while premium economy flyers will see a 32% increase, per the report. First-class seats will cost 20% higher.

The change in policy aligns with similar changes introduced by Emirates for its own Skywards frequent flyer program in 2025, the report said. Qantas and Emirates entered a strategic partnership in 2013.
