MT Newswires Live01-22

Honda (TYO:7267) is introducing its first electric sports motorcycle, the WN7, initially in Europe, with subsequent sales planned for Japan and Asia, Nikkei Asia reported on Thursday, citing Masatsugu Tanaka, chief engineer and head of development for the WN7.

The company aims to strengthen its brand image and demonstrate its commitment to electrification by targeting the high-performance segment, the publication said.

Developed with technology from its automotive division, the WN7 offers power comparable to a 600cc gasoline bike and a range of 140 kilometers, said the news daily.

Honda hopes this flagship model will generate broader consumer interest and boost sales across its electric two-wheeler lineup, the report said.
