1215 GMT - The expansion of gas infrastructure to meet rising demand represents the biggest opportunity for business of the year, says Baker Hughes CEO Lorenzo Simonelli says at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The CEO says he sees multiyear growth in gas, with LNG in particular remaining robust. Grid infrastructure, however, is lacking in many countries--including in the U.S.--creating an urgent need to bring energy sources online. "The abundance of gas during this next decade of energy demand growth is going to be critical," Simonelli says. With generative AI and rising energy consumption, the need for dependable, sustainable, and affordable energy has never been clearer, he adds. "There is a better realization now of the importance of energy sources really to drive industrial outcomes," he says. (giulia.petroni@wsj.com)
