1034 ET - Anthropic's enterprise focus insulates it from uncertainty around capital spending on AI data centers, CEO Dario Amodei says in a CNBC interview at Davos. He describes a "cone of uncertainty" faced by AI companies, who have to continue investing in data infrastructure despite having little visibility into even short-term revenue growth. But he says Anthropic has a buffer: "The higher your margins are, the more fairway you have between the amount you have to buy and the amount of revenue you have to support," he says. "One of the fortunate things about being in the enterprise business is that we have relatively higher margins, and enterprise spending is relatively predictable in comparison to consumer spending, which is very fickle." While Google and OpenAI vie for consumers, he says, "we have more stability in enterprise." (elias.schisgall@wsj.com)
