1417 ET - Costco could see a sales boost as Americans prepare for major winter storms this weekend, Mizuho says. Historically, harsh forecasts have triggered a surge in Costco traffic, as shoppers stock up on staples. With forecasts for heavy snow and ice hitting the south, midwest, and northeast, analysts David Bellinger and Declan Kelley predict that the run-up to the stormy weekend could mirror U.S. sales gains seen during last year's polar vortex. "Any weather-induced help could keep the momentum going for COST shares," the analysts say. Other retailers such as Home Depot, Lowe's, and Tractor Supply could also see a bump in sales from the stormy weather, they say. Costco is up 1.7%. (amira.mckee@wsj.com)
