TMC Files Exploration, Recovery Application to NOAA for Polymetallic Nodules in Clarion Clipperton Zone

TMC the metals company (TMC) said Thursday its TMC USA subsidiary has filed a consolidated application to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, for an exploration license and commercial recovery permit covering polymetallic nodules in international waters of the Clarion Clipperton Zone in the Pacific Ocean.

The application, made under NOAA's new consolidated application and review process, covers an area of about 65,000 square kilometers for exploration and recovery, compared with about 25,000 square kilometers in TMC USA's initial commercial recovery permit application filed in April 2025.

Shares of the company rose more than 8% in recent pre-bell activity Thursday.
