Target (TGT), Best Buy (BBY), 3M (MMM), EcoLab (ECL), MedTronic (MDT) and 55 other Minnesota-based companies on Sunday called for an "immediate deescalation of tensions" in the state a day after the widely publicized shooting of nurse Alex Pretti at the hands of federal agents.
The chief executives of the companies said in an open letter issued through the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce that the ongoing confrontations between Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and civilians "have created widespread disruption and tragic loss of life."
The business leaders said they have been communicating with local, state, and federal authorities in an effort to defuse the crisis.
Pretti was shot and killed by federal immigration officers on Saturday in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as he was filming the law enforcement agents.
