Investors Question How Long Restaurant Sector Momentum Will Last -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-27

1510 ET - Investors remain positive on the restaurant sector, but they're wondering how long its momentum will last after sizable gains at the start of this year, UBS analysts say in a note. Investors are optimistic in the setup for the industry in the first half of the year given solid trends so far and easy comparisons ahead, the analysts say. They're also optimistic that stimulus benefits over the coming months could be another catalyst, but they're wondering how much of the sector's year-to-date share gains are connected to those expectations relative to solid industry sales trends, the analysts say. Challenging winter weather is also likely to pressure near-term trends, they note. (kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
