Chinese optical manufacturer Sunny Optical is moving ahead with its plan to spin off its automotive unit, getting the green light to list the business on the Hong Kong exchange.

In a filing on Tuesday, Apple supplier Sunny Optical said it had received approval from the Hong Kong stock exchange to proceed with the spinoff announced earlier this month.

SpinCo, which makes vehicle lens sets and camera modules, will remain a subsidiary of the group, and Sunny will continue to consolidate the business's financial results into its accounts.

The exact terms of the spinoff and listing have yet to be finalized, it added.

Sunny's shares were last up 0.4% in Hong Kong.

Founded in 1984, Sunny is a major manufacturer of integrated optical products and components globally. It designs and makes lenses for mobile phones, cameras, robots and medical equipment.
