EssilorLuxottica Shares Slip on Patent Lawsuit -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-26

1355 GMT - Shares in EssilorLuxottica fall after the Wall Street Journal reported that Solos Technology filed a lawsuit against the Ray Ban-owner and Meta Platforms claiming patent infringement. Solos seeks billions of dollars of damages as it alleges the companies--which partner over AI glasses--used improper knowledge of its smartglasses technology, the WSJ reports. Such litigation is common and not an immediate cause for concern, Equita analyst Domenico Ghilotti writes. "For the time being, we see the risk as very low: legal litigation in the U.S. on these issues is typically high and Meta and Essilux have a long experience in managing these issues," he writes. EssilorLuxottica shares fall 2.2% to 259.20 euros. (josephmichael.stonor@wsj.com)
