Microsoft (MSFT)-backed OpenAI is in discussions to get up to an additional $30 billion investment from Japanese conglomerate SoftBank Group, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing an unnamed person familiar with the matter.
The new investment will be part of a funding round that could raise as much as $100 billion for the ChatGPT owner, valuing it at about $830 billion, the person reportedly said.
SoftBank's Chief Executive Officer, Masayoshi Son, has made an "all-in" bet on OpenAI to boost its position in the artificial intelligence race, according to Reuters.
OpenAI and SoftBank did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.
