European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were down late Thursday morning, declining 0.82% to 1,802.03 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR), which rose 1.9%. They were followed by brewing company Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD) and oil and gas company Eni (E), which were up 1.5% and 1.2% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by software firm SAP (SAP) and telecommunications company Nokia (NOK), which dropped 17% and 9.3% respectively. They were followed by semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which lost 8.3% and 4.4% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and mining company BHP Group (BHP), which advanced 7% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by oil and gas company Shell (SHEL) and pharmaceutical company GSK (GSK), which increased 1.9% and 1.8% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech (TRIB), which fell 12% and 6.9% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies NuCana (NCNA) and Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO), which were down 3.6% and 3% respectively.
