General Motors said it will invest $30 million into its Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas, as part of its commitment to advance workforce development and expand U.S. production capacity.
The auto maker said Thursday its latest investment in Kansas City will support upskilling employees for more advanced roles, as well as cross-training to build flexibility between electric and internal combustion engine vehicles.
The plant currently produces the Chevrolet Bolt, an electric vehicle, and it will soon start manufacturing a gas-powered Chevrolet Equinox as well as a next-generation Buick compact SUV, GM said.
Across the company, GM said it has invested about $500 million in U.S. manufacturing apprenticeships and upskilling programs over the past five years.
It noted its total manufacturing investments for 2025 were approximately $5.5 billion.
