Mondelez International named Chief Financial Officer Luca Zaramella its chief operating officer and has started a search for a successor for its top finance job.

Zaramella, who has been CFO of the food company since 2018, will hold both positions starting on Feb. 1. In addition to CFO duties, he'll now oversee the company's commercial operations in its four geographical regions as well as corporate sales, marketing and supply chain functions.

The maker of Oreo cookies and Ritz crackers said Thursday it expects to name a new CFO at a later date.

Zaramella joined the company in 1996 in Italy before holding positions of increasing responsibility across the world. Before rising to CFO, he served as corporate controller, treasurer and global head of financial planning and analysis.
