Prosus has reached a three-year cloud and artificial intelligence agreement with an Amazon.com (AMZN) unit, consolidating cloud and AI contracts and generating double-digit cost savings, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.
The deal with Amazon Web Services is valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars, Prosus Ecosystem Head Igor Cardoso told Bloomberg.
Prosus will roll out its large commerce and AI models across Latin America, where it owns businesses including iFood, Despegar, and OLX, with plans to expand to Europe and India over time, Cardoso added.
While data sharing across regions is limited, standardizing models will allow faster and more efficient deployment in new markets, Bloomberg reported, citing Cardoso.
Prosus employs about 1,000 AI specialists who will work with Amazon teams to co-develop applications and is investing roughly $100 million a year in AI talent and infrastructure, the report said.
As part of the deal, Prosus will also use Amazon's global cloud infrastructure and data centers, it added.
Prosus and Amazon did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
