Investec said Standard Bank Group owns 5.95% of its issued share capital.
The financial-services company didn't say how many shares Standard Bank owned. However, based on 641.6 million shares in issue according to LSEG data, the stake equates to around 38.2 million shares. It is worth 234.8 million pounds ($321.6 million) based on Investec's closing share price of 615 pence in London Tuesday.
Standard Bank previously owned 1.63% of Investec's issued shares, according to LSEG.
Shares in London were up 4 pence, or 0.65%, at 619 pence in early afternoon trading.
