BOE Could Keep Interest Rates Unchanged in 2026 Due to Inflation Concerns -- Market Talk
Dow Jones02-03
1116 GMT - The Bank of England could keep interest rates on hold throughout 2026 due to uncertainty surrounding U.K. inflation and global economic developments, AJ Bell's Laith Khalaf says in a note. The BOE is widely expected to keep rates unchanged at 3.75% at Thursday's rate decision as U.K. inflation stands at 3.4%, far from the 2.0% BOE target, Khalaf says. Markets price in a 96% chance of no change in U.K. interest rates this week, LSEG data show. Lingering inflation fears could hinder the BOE from cutting rates in 2026, he says.
