Orion Minerals (ASX:ORN) said that a number of its South African exploration project firms have been selected to join BHP's (ASX:BHP) Xplor accelerator program for the year, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.

Under the program, the firms will receive an aggregate equity-free grant of $500,000, access to BHP's technical specialists, and support to advance geological concepts at its projects, the filing said.

The Prieska copper-zinc mine and the Flat Mines project, within the company's Okiep copper project, are not part of the program, the filing said.
