0608 GMT - Samsung Electronics stands to benefit from soaring artificial-intelligence-driven demand for NAND products, HSBC's Ricky Seo and Han Kil Chang write in a note. NAND is a type of memory chip that retains data even when the power is off, unlike DRAM, which requires power to hold data. New AI server designs need more memory, including NAND storage, to improve response times for large language models and agentic AI services, as their focus is shifting from training to inference, the HSBC analysts say. They raise their 2026 and 2027 operating-profit estimates for Samsung by 18%-27%. Samsung held a 35% share of the NAND market in 3Q 2025, they add. (kwanwoo.jun@wsj.com)
