European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts opened the week higher, rising 0.8% late Monday morning to 1,824.45 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by internet browser company Opera (OPRA) and furniture maker Natuzzi (NTZ), which climbed 16.1% and 8.1% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and software firm SAP (SAP), which advanced 3% and 2.3% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS) and biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX), which dropped 7.2% and 3.8% respectively. They were followed by petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR) and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk (NVO), which lost 3.4% and 1.1% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), which rose 5.4%, followed by hospitality company InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and software firm Endava (DAVA), which gained 2.5% each, and biotech company Trinity Biotech (TRIB), which was up 1.2%.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and communications company WPP (WPP), which fell 3.4% and 2.3% respectively. They were followed by alcoholic beverage company Diageo (DEO) and biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO), which were down 1.6% and 1% respectively.
