Thomson Reuters CEO Pushes Back on AI Fears, Citing Expertise, Content Quality -- Market Talk

Dow Jones02-05 22:30

0930 ET - Thomson Reuters CEO Steve Hasker pushes back on market worries that artificial intelligence could erode its business. Hasker says on a call that the company's advantage lies in its proprietary content and expert knowledge, saying "professional grade results can't be delivered without our content and expertise," and that "general purpose models cannot meet this standard." The executive says the company's AI agentic tools are already raising the bar in legal research and that its mid-year Westlaw release will solidify that lead. Hasker also points to "whitespace opportunity" in legal platforms and says Thomson Reuters is "a leader in the AI workflow market today." Competitors without deep content and subject matter expertise "will find it difficult…to replicate," he says. (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
