Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI is in talks with Abu Dhabi-based G42 to develop a UAE-specific version of ChatGPT tailored to local language, culture, and content rules, Semafor reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The customized chatbot is aimed at use by the UAE government and would mark one of ChatGPT's first regional-specific deployments, the report said.
According to the report, OpenAI will continue offering its global version of ChatGPT in the UAE, notifying users when requests trigger local legal limits.
Microsoft and OpenAI didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
