ASX Midday Sector Update: Information Technology Shares Jump, Materials Fall

MT Newswires Live10:23

Information technology stocks jumped 1% at midday Thursday.

BrainChip (ASX:BRN) launched its artificial intelligence acceleration co-processor, Akida Pico, which is now available for evaluation through its Akida Field-Programmable Gate Arrays Cloud.

On the flip side, the materials sector dropped 2% amid escalating US-Iran tensions, which saw the prices of safe-haven assets gold and silver rise.

Neometals (ASX:NMT) said that Reed Advanced Materials agreed with Livent USA, a unit of the Rio Tinto Group (ASX:RIO), to extend the term of their memorandum of understanding establishing a non-binding framework for Reed and Rio Tinto to collaborate on validating and advancing Reed's lithium processing technology.
