UniCredit's Guidance Implies Significant Upside -- Market Talk

Dow Jones02-09

0849 GMT - The profit guidance set out by Italian bank UniCredit for the period through 2028 implies significant upside, J.P. Morgan says in a research note. The group's fourth-quarter print was weak due to "kitchen sinking"--loading lots of bad news into one release--but the improved outlook and shareholder distributions should support consensus upgrades, analysts write. "Whilst investor focus continues to remain M&A, UCG continues to deliver strong profitability and capital distribution on an organic basis, with more buybacks to come," they note. Shares are up 4.6% at 77.38 euros. (elena.vardon@wsj.com)
