West African Resources (ASX:WAF) found gold mineralization during a recent drilling at the M5 and M1 North deposits of the Sanbrado Gold Operation in Burkina Faso, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.
The results were up to 28 meters at 6.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, and 22 meters at 13 g/t gold.
Drilling at M5 South extended high-grade gold mineralization by 400 meters below the current mineral resource, which confirms potential for significant mine life extension, the company said.
The company is progressing with M5 South resource conversion drilling on schedule.
Diamond drilling continues to deliver consistent mineralization below the current open-pit ore Reserve at M5 North, the filing added.
At M1 North, the company said drill results support potential for cutback, with the mined pit last optimized at $1,200 per ounce of gold.
