Eurozone Investors Eye Recovery -- Market Talk

Dow Jones02-09 18:28

1028 GMT - Investors in the eurozone feel a recovery is finally under way, Ankita Amajuri at Pantheon Macroeconomics says in a note. The headline Sentix investor sentiment index rose sharply to 4.2 in February, compared with minus 1.8 in January. This was well above consensus of minus 0.2, and marks the highest level since July 2025. It was driven by gains in both the current assessment index and the expectations gauge. Amajuri notes that sentiment was also boosted by a bullish stance on Germany, with investors "extremely confident" about the country's economy. "We continue to expect a further pickup in German GDP growth this quarter, as expansionary fiscal policy aimed at defense and infrastructure spending begins to gain traction," she says.
