Microsoft (MSFT)-backed OpenAI said Monday it will test ads in ChatGPT in the US to support broader access to the artificial intelligence chatbot's features.
The test is designed for logged-in adult users on the Free and Go subscription tiers, while users subscribed to other tiers, including Plus, Pro, and Business, will not have ads, the company said.
ChatGPT will match ads with the topic of user conversations and past chats, but it will not influence the chatbot's answers, OpenAI said.
The company said advertisers will not have access user data but will receive aggregate data related to ad performance.
