Extra Space Storage Posts Higher Profit on 4Q Same-Store Revenue Growth

Extra Space Storage posted a higher profit as same-store revenue grew in the fourth quarter.

The self-storage company on Thursday reported a profit of $287.4 million, or $1.36 a share, compared with $262.5 million, or $1.24 a share, a year earlier.

Revenue rose to $857.5 million, up from $821.9 million a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting $854.6 million.

The company reported a same-store occupancy rate of 92.6%, compared with 93.3% a year earlier. Same-store revenue rose 0.4% year over year.

Core funds from operations were $2.08 a share, the company said. Analysts had been expecting $2.04 a share.

For the current year, the company said it expects core funds from operations between $8.05 and $8.35 a share. Analysts are expecting $8.27 a share.

The company is projecting between an 0.5% decline and 1.5% growth in same-store revenue for the year.
