PepsiCo Says Consumers Like Price Cuts on Snacks -- WSJ

PepsiCo said it is seeing early signs that slashing prices of brands from Doritos to Lay's will be positive for its sales.

Speaking at an investor conference, Chief Executive Ramon Laguarta said that early data on how consumers feel about the cuts--which are up to 15% on some products--is "very good."

The food and beverage company cut prices earlier this month in a bid to bring consumers back to its snacks business. Growth in the business had slowed in recent years as people balked at purchases in response to rising prices.

Laguarta told investors that the company wants to increase its market share for certain products, as well as boost net revenue and profit for its food business. "The consumer clearly is telling us it was the right thing to do," he said.
