U.K. Investors Await BOE Members' Comments in Parliament -- Market Talk

Dow Jones02-24

1044 GMT - U.K. investors await testimony from Bank of England monetary policy committee members Megan Greene, Professor Alan Taylor, Huw Pill and BOE Governor Andrew Bailey before parliament's Treasury Committee at 1415 GMT. Markets will pay close attention to Bailey's remarks for clues on the path of BOE rate cuts "given his position as the key swing voter on the Committee," RBC Capital Markets strategist say in a note. The testimony comes amid a growing possibility of a rate cut next month after recent weak jobs data. Markets price two 25 basis-point BOE rate cuts in 2026, with a 76% probability of a rate cut in March, LSEG data show. Ten-year gilt yields fall to a 14-month low of 4.298%, Tradeweb data show.
