1158 ET - J.M. Smucker's profit has suffered from surging coffee prices, but the company may be seeing relief around the corner. "We are now starting to see moderation in green coffee futures supported by positive signs for next year's crop," said Chief Executive Mark Smucker. "Given the pass-through nature of the coffee category, during a period of sustained deflation, we have historically lowered prices and total profit has benefited from the favorable impact." The company won't fully recover the coffee tariff costs it incurred in fiscal 2026, but it won't face those costs next fiscal year after the U.S. excluded green coffee from tariffs.
