Photronics Shares Rise After Higher 1Q Revenue

Photronics shares were 14% higher, at $43.15, after the company reported first-quarter revenue that was 6% higher than last year.

The technology company said it had quarterly revenue of $225.1 million, compared with $212.1 million in the same quarter last year.

Net income for the quarter was flat at $42.9 million. On a per-share basis, earnings rose to 74 cents from 68 cents last year.

The company said it had cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments of $636.9 million at the end of the quarter.

For the second quarter, Photronics said it is expecting revenue of $212 million to $220 million, and adjusted earnings of 49 cents to 55 cents a share.
