Stock indexes rose Wednesday, with investors eyeing potential winners and losers from the artificial-intelligence boom.
Earnings from Nvidia, the chip designer at the center of the AI race, are due after the close. Its shares rose beforehand, helping push the Nasdaq composite 1% higher on the day. Software maker Salesforce is also due to report earnings; its shares were up about 3%.
Though markets have steadied following Monday's selloff, skeptical traders are looking for ways to bet against the AI frenzy ahead of what they see as an inevitable shakeout.
Shares of Workday pared early losses and turned higher following the software provider issuing weaker-than-expected guidance, fueling worries over AI competition. The stock was down as much as 9.6% before climbing back.
Meantime, Netflix shares rallied after Warner Bros. Discovery said it was considering a new bid from Paramount Skydance.
