US equity indexes rose amid gains in consumer discretionary and technology in midday trading on Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.9% to 49,164.1, the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.9% to 22,830.3, and the S&P 500 advanced 0.6% to 6,876.6. Energy led the decliners.
The iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV), with net assets of about $6.06 billion, jumped 1.6%.
Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic said Thomson Reuters (TRI) and Royal Bank of Canada's (RY) RBC Wealth Management are using the artificial intelligence agents it powers, Reuters reported Tuesday. Shares of Amazon climbed 2.1%, among the Dow's top gainers. Thomson Reuters stock surged 12%, leading the Nasdaq.
US Treasury yields were mixed, with the two-year up 1.7 basis points to 3.46%. The 10-year yield was little changed at 4.03%.
In precious metals, gold futures slumped 1.3% to $5,159.9 per troy ounce, while silver futures jumped 1.3% to $87.67 per troy ounce.
