The U.S. military's Central Command rebuffed Iran's claim that it had struck the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln with ballistic missiles, saying in a social media post that the weapons "didn't even come close."
"The Lincoln was not hit. The missiles launched didn't even come close," Centcom posted. "The Lincoln continues to launch aircraft in support of CENTCOM's relentless campaign to defend the American people by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime."
Earlier Sunday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it had targeted and struck the Lincoln with four ballistic missiles. Centcom called the claim a "LIE," in its post.
