Sony Group (SONY) will no longer release its internally developed PlayStation 5 games on PC, returning to console exclusivity after six years, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the company's plans.
Online games, along with several externally developed games published by PlayStation, will be continue to be rolled out on multiple platforms, according to the report.
The strategy may still change in the future due to the unpredictable nature of the video game industry, the sources said.
A group inside PlayStation is concerned that the PC releases damages the PlayStation brand and may negatively impact sales of the PlayStation 5 and future consoles, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the inner workings of the company.
PlayStation did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
