1127 ET - Best Buy's near-term macroeconomic challenges include a memory shortage hitting the computing market and a stagnant housing market, says Chief Executive Corie Barry in a media call. The memory shortage, driven by data centers' surging demand for chips, is driving cost inflation and supply chain uncertainty. Meanwhile, weak housing activity hurts sales of TVs and household appliances. "There's not as much remodeling, there's certainly not as much housing turnover," Barry says. The pace of technological innovation, including the AI integration into hardware products, should drive sales, but "there are just some real mixed macro challenges ahead," Barry says.
