Hudbay Bolsters Copper Growth Potential at a Reasonable Valuation -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-03 21:07

0807 ET - Hudbay Minerals is doubling down on Arizona, a move applauded by Judith Elliott of Raymond James. The Canadian miner is buying Arizona Sonoran in an all-share transaction worth about US$1.48 billion. Elliott says the deal implies an acquisition value of about 0.8 times net asset value, in line with the upper end of peer copper development companies and a discount to copper producers. The analyst says that while Hudbay already has a strong copper development pipeline with its Copper World development, she views the acquisition favorably as it provides further potential growth at a reasonable valuation in a jurisdiction where Hudbay will have development and operating experience.
