Broad Market Indicators
Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV edged higher. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) added 0.3%.
US equity indexes were mixed while government bond yields rose in midday trading on Monday amid the US- and Israel-led war on Iran.
Energy
IShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) each rose about 1.4%.
Technology
The State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) gained 0.7%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) also moved higher.
The State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) added 0.8%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) slipped 0.2%.
Financial
The State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) fell 0.1%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) shed 0.3%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), rose 0.3%.
Commodities
Crude oil added 5.4%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 4.7%. Natural gas rose 3%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) gained 2.9%.
Gold on Comex was up 1.5%, and the State Street SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) rose 0.7%. Silver shed 5.9%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was down 6.1%.
Consumer
The State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) dipped 1%. The Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) declined as well.
The State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) fell 1.2%. VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) lost 0.5%, and the State Street SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) was down 1%.
Health Care
The State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) lost 1%, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) declined. IShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) fell 0.7%.
Industrial
The State Street Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) rose 0.8%. Vanguard Industrials Index Fund (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) pointed higher.
Cryptocurrency
In midday activity, bitcoin (BTC-USD) rose 4.4%. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, ProShares Bitcoin ETF (BITO) added 5.2%, ProShares Ether ETF (EETH) gained 5.6%, and ProShares Bitcoin & Ether Market Cap Weight ETF (BETH) was up 5.9%.
