Thales's Air-Defense Systems Could Prove Popular as Iran Attacks Gulf -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-03

1044 GMT - Iran's attacks on Gulf states could drive demand for Thales's air-defense systems, J.P. Morgan analysts write in a note. The country's response to recent days' deadly attacks by the U.S. and Israel has included missile and drone strikes on Washington's allies in the Gulf, including the UAE, Bahrain and Qatar. "Given Iran's strategy of attacking Gulf nations, we could see higher demand for products made by Thales, including air-defence systems where it is a leading player," JPM notes. The French aerospace-and-defense company on Tuesday said it is targeting further sales and profitability growth this year amid renewed demand for arms investment. Shares lose 2.9% to 248.15 euros, having surged Monday on the conflict. (joshua.kirby@wsj.com; @joshualeokirby)
