Ad Industry Growth Likely to Remain Tepid in 2026 -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-03 22:35

1435 GMT - The advertising industry's top-line growth was near zero in the fourth quarter and is likely to remain tepid in 2026, with diverging trends among the biggest agency groups, analysts at Bank of America say in a research note. Organic sales growth across the six biggest ad groups was 0.2% in the fourth quarter, Bank of America calculates, using the weighted average of the growth rates reported by the companies. Dentsu and WPP are firmly in negative territory, but Publicis and Havas's top lines are growing faster than the economy, according to the bank. "Outlooks for 2026 point to another year of low to no growth but perspectives vary strongly from one company to another, making 'polarisation' once again the theme of earnings," the analysts say. The Stoxx Europe Media index falls 2.2%. (adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
